it appears to be a big globe looking down at us from the sky, following us wherever we go.
moon is quite an amazing being. it affects our human behaviors in various ways depending on its phase. it's a wonderful source of energy, often used for psychological or magickal use. it's the opposite of the sun, always appearing in the dark, singing us a lullaby to sleep.
but what is the moon?
the Internet definition tells us that the moon is "the natural satellite of the earth, visible (chiefly at night) by reflected light from the sun", but it's not enough to express what effect the moon has on us.
most people don't spend much time thinking about the sense and meaning of the moon in the universe. because there's not much to think about, is there?
stars, planets, space- thinking about those things makes us feel small, and we as humans don't like feeling small. we like to feel important, superior to everything around us. but are we really superior?
the answer is no.
we, as a species don't matter all that much compared to the rest of the world, or the universe. we don't know all that much and we may never truly understand why and when certain things have been created.
right. why and when?
these questions are one of many that we, people, love to ask. we love to ask questions and seek answers. we love to know everything and we hate it when something's out of our control.
does it matter all that much, though?
"One sees clearly only with the heart. Anything essential is invisible to the eyes.”
there are eight different moon phases, that in astrology have different energies and may affect us in different ways. i'm not an expert on all eight of them, but i do not think that there's 'a way' to become an expert of anything, especially something so huge and hard to comprehend.
humans never stop learning; not even after they graduated or supposedly mastered certain topic. there's a million things that we haven't discovered yet, and it's important to stay open-minded, ready to absorb more knowledge and information.
i'm not going to try and discuss all of the lunar phases, though.
despite my love towards astrology, it is not what my blog is all about, so if you wish to find out more about moon cycles you should visit other astrology-oriented websites, such as: |this one| or |this one|.
let's go back on the track.
new moon,
the new moon is time reserved for beginnings, starting new projects, seeking new jobs, new loves. it's a phase that can help you achieve your new dreams and resolutions. it's said that for the first 48 hours following the new moon, we should follow our impulses and try to achieve something new in the areas that are important to us.
full moon,
according to the Internet, full moon makes us "see an unbiased view of others and ourselves". the full moon can mess with our emotions a lot, making us feel a lot of new things, whether we want it, or not. the full moon is supposed to bring us cleansing and make us reflect on the events occurring in our life. to many, full moon phase may be a phase of disappointment and sadness, where we realize how our lives stay unchanged, despite our attempts to create said change. of course, full moon isn't meant to be a negative phase. it's neutral and out of our control just like the others, and it only depends on us, whether or not it'll bring us positive realizations and outcomes.
moon has always been a fascinating thing to me.
when i was younger, i used to go on late-night walks, observing as it stayed still on the sky, seemingly following me around, as if we were hanging out together.
as a child, i used to have a specific kind of relationship with the moon, no matter how bizarre it may sound now.
you see, back in the day, i used to sleep-walk, which my family has always seemed to find terrifying. and, i mean, i can't really blame them, the phenomenon of sleep-talking/walking is amazing but it may creep people out a bit.
especially when a child sleep-walks and then begins to recite unintelligible words to the full moon.
yeah, that's sort of freaky.
